A surprise gender newborn session in Shreveport is even more special when a family has spent months wondering whether they’re welcoming a boy or a girl. This sweet family has trusted me to photograph all four of their babies, and their newest arrival brought an especially exciting surprise.
There are some families I have the privilege of photographing once. Then there are families I get to watch grow through the years. This family is one of those families, and their story is extra special to me.
I have photographed the newborn sessions for all four of their babies. Every single time, Mom and Dad chose to wait until delivery to find out if they were having a boy or a girl.
Baby number one… a boy.
Baby number two… another boy.
Baby number three… another sweet boy!
And then came baby number four.
A Surprise Gender Newborn Session in Shreveport
A few weeks before their newest little one arrived, we did their maternity session. Of course, one of the big topics of conversation was whether they thought Mom was carrying another baby boy or if this might finally be a little girl.
I asked each of the boys what they thought, and they all had their own predictions. It was so much fun hearing their guesses and seeing how excited they were to meet their new sibling.
Mom and Dad didn’t know either. Just like they had done with their first three babies, they were waiting for that incredible moment at delivery when they would finally hear, “It’s a boy!” or “It’s a girl!”
More than anything, they simply wanted a healthy baby. Boy or girl, this little one was already so loved.
But this time, they got a very special surprise.
It was a GIRL!
One More Sweet Surprise
After three boys, welcoming a baby girl was an especially exciting moment for this family.
When the family arrived for their newborn session, I could immediately tell that everyone was eager to share the news. After photographing this family through the years and welcoming boy after boy with them, it was such a fun moment to discover that their newest little one was a daughter.
Mom and Dad were absolutely thrilled.
Of course, they would have been happy either way. After three healthy boys, they knew what a blessing another baby was, regardless of gender. Still, there was something incredibly sweet about watching them soak in the fact that they now had a daughter.
Their three boys had a little sister.
Daddy had his little girl.
And Mama finally had a daughter of her own.
Three Very Excited Big Brothers
One of my favorite parts of this newborn session was watching the three older brothers meet their baby sister.
They could hardly wait to tell me that they had a baby sister! After years of being the boys of the family, they now had a tiny little girl to love.
Their excitement made the session even more meaningful.
During their newborn photos with siblings in Shreveport, we captured the boys cuddling close to their new sister and taking in all of her tiny newborn details.
There is something incredibly sweet about seeing big brothers become gentle and protective around their tiny baby sister.
These are the kinds of moments that make sibling newborn photography so special. The poses may be beautiful, but the connection between siblings is what makes the photographs truly meaningful.
The Little Princess of the House
I have a feeling this sweet girl isn’t going to have to worry about much with a daddy and three big brothers looking out for her!
She is already the little princess of the house, completely surrounded by people who adore her. Watching her brothers with her during the session was so sweet.
For Mom, this season feels especially meaningful, too.
After years of raising boys, she now gets to experience all the little things that come with having a daughter. There will be bows, sweet outfits, mother-daughter moments, and countless memories still to come.
Most importantly, she now has a little girl to love and watch grow.
You could see the joy all over her face.
Their hearts are full, and their family finally feels complete.
Photographing All Four of Their Babies
One of the greatest compliments I can receive as a photographer is when a family continues to come back and trusts me with their most important memories.
This family has trusted me with something incredibly precious: the newborn story of each of their four children.
I’ve watched them walk through my doors with each new baby. I’ve photographed their first little boy, then watched him become a big brother. Another brother joined the family, and then another.
Now, I get to photograph all three of those boys loving on their brand-new baby sister.
These are the moments that remind me why I love being a newborn photographer so much.
The photographs aren’t just about one newborn session. When you put them all together, they tell the story of a family growing.
