Choosing between a studio session and an outdoor session is one of the biggest questions I hear from expecting moms. If you’re searching for a studio maternity photographer in Shreveport, you may be wondering which option is the best fit for your family.
The truth is, there isn’t a right or wrong answer.
Both styles create beautiful images, and each offers a unique experience. The best choice depends on your personal style, your vision, and the memories you want to preserve. The exciting part is that you don’t have to choose just one. Many of my clients decide to enjoy both, creating a gallery with incredible variety.
As a studio maternity photographer in Shreveport, I love helping families decide which option best fits their personalities and tells their story.

Studio maternity sessions are perfect for moms who love a clean, timeless look.
With soft natural light, neutral backdrops, and a cozy atmosphere, the focus stays exactly where it belongs—on you, your growing baby bump, and your family’s connection.
Another advantage is comfort.
Louisiana weather can be unpredictable. Summer days often bring intense heat and humidity, while spring and fall can surprise us with rain. Inside the studio, you’ll enjoy a comfortable environment no matter the season.
Many expecting moms also appreciate the privacy that comes with a studio session. Without distractions, you can relax, take your time, and simply enjoy this special experience.

Outdoor maternity sessions offer a completely different feel.
Golden sunsets, open fields, blooming flowers, peaceful waterfronts, and beautiful natural scenery create a warm, romantic backdrop for your portraits.
In addition, outdoor sessions are especially fun for families with young children.
Little ones love having space to explore. Rather than asking them to sit perfectly still, I encourage them to play, walk beside you, pick flowers, hold your hand, or run in for a big hug. Those genuine interactions often become some of my favorite photographs because they capture real connection and authentic emotion.

Whether we’re photographing your maternity session in the studio or outdoors, my goal is never to create stiff or overly posed images.
Instead, I want your session to feel natural and relaxed.
We’ll take a walk together.
We’ll laugh together.
We’ll pause for quiet moments.
If you’re bringing older children, we’ll let them simply be themselves. They might wrap their arms around your baby bump, cuddle beside you, or laugh while Dad scoops them into his arms.
Of course, we’ll also capture a few classic portraits where everyone is smiling at the camera.
However, the images families usually treasure most are the ones that happen naturally between the poses.

One of my favorite options is combining a studio session with an outdoor maternity session.
We often begin in the studio with a relaxed, casual look. Many moms choose their favorite jeans paired with a classic white shirt or another outfit that feels comfortable and authentic.
These portraits have a cozy, timeless style that beautifully celebrates everyday life before your baby arrives.
Afterward, we’ll head outdoors for a completely different look.
This is the perfect opportunity to wear one of the beautiful gowns from my client wardrobe. Flowing dresses paired with golden sunset light create elegant portraits that feel romantic and timeless.
Together, these two locations provide wonderful variety.
You’ll receive relaxed lifestyle portraits, elegant maternity images, and genuine family moments that tell the complete story of this exciting season.
For many families, it truly is the best of both worlds.

If you love timeless portraits, privacy, and year-round comfort, a studio maternity session may be exactly what you’re looking for.
On the other hand, if you’ve always imagined glowing sunsets, open fields, and playful family interactions, an outdoor session may be the perfect choice.
Still can’t decide?
You don’t have to.
Many of my clients choose both experiences because they love having a gallery filled with different styles, beautiful locations, and meaningful memories.

Whether you choose the timeless elegance of a studio session, the natural beauty of an outdoor location, or a combination of both, we’ll create photographs that celebrate this unforgettable chapter with warmth, joy, and genuine connection.
