If the thought of convincing your teenager to smile for family photos makes you nervous… you’re not alone.
By the time your kids hit their preteen or teenage years, family photos can feel like a bit of a challenge. You want updated pictures that capture this stage of life, but you don’t want forced smiles or awkward posing—and you’re definitely not trying to drag anyone to a session they don’t want to be at.
Good news: it doesn’t have to be like that.
As someone who’s photographed plenty of families with older kids around Bossier City, Shreveport, and Benton, I can tell you this: family photography with teens can absolutely be fun, relaxed, and full of real connection.
Here’s how we make that happen.
Teens can spot fake a mile away—and they’ll shut down fast if something feels stiff or overdone. That’s why I guide with natural, low-pressure prompts instead of awkward poses.
We keep the vibe casual. I might say:

These little moments lead to real expressions, laughs, and those in-between shots that feel authentic. I work fast, keep it fun, and make space for personalities to shine.
Let’s be honest—getting your teen to agree on an outfit might feel harder than the session itself. That’s why I help you build a color palette that photographs beautifully, but still leaves room for personal style.

I’ll send over outfit suggestions that work well together but don’t require everyone to match. Teens can still wear jeans, sneakers, hoodies, or something a little trendy—it’s all about making sure it fits the vibe and keeps the focus on the connection.
When they feel like themselves, they show up with confidence.
Teens love when things feel intentional and cool—not over-posed in a field of flowers (unless they’re into that!). That’s why I offer location suggestions around Bossier and Shreveport that are fun and give us plenty of room to move around.

Some teen-friendly favorites:
We’ll pick a location that fits your family’s vibe—and your teen’s comfort level.
You don’t need a two-hour shoot to get great images. Most of my family sessions with teens in Bossier City last around 30–45 minutes. I make it quick, lighthearted, and efficient.

Parents always tell me afterward, “That was so much easier than I expected!”
And teens? They usually leave saying it “wasn’t bad at all.” (Which, let’s be honest, is high praise).
The toddler stage isn’t the only one worth documenting. Your teen is still growing, evolving, and forming the adult they’re becoming. This time in your family’s life deserves to be remembered.

Even if it’s just one smile, one real laugh, one genuine moment—that’s everything.
If you’re in Bossier City, Shreveport, or Benton, and want a family session that feels relaxed, fun, and true to this season—even with teens!—I’ve got you.
If you’re ready to book your own family session—big or small—I’m here to help with every step. I can guide you through planning, color choices, posing, and choosing a location you’ll love. I want the whole experience to feel simple, fun, and meaningful for your family.
